Financial Support

Financial Support

Financial Support model for International Open Public Digital Library (IOPDL) is to be supported and contributed by every state and the governments of the USA and participating countries.

Since it is initiated in the USA, it should be fully and actively supported by the U.S. government. Since it will be an international property for the public all over the world, it should be supported by governments of participating countries.

Amount of contribution may be different based on finance status of each state or government, and contribution degrees to Well-Designed Digital Libraries (WDDLs).

No matter how much the degree of contribution is different, it is essential that all states and governments of the world participate in financial aid for the public utility. It will be one of the best ways to make use of budget for the public all over the world for charitable, scientific and educational purposes.

Moreover, contributions of foundations and government agencies, and organizations or individuals will play important roles to establish and maintain the world property, IOPDL.

Current Efforts

IOPDL project team seeks grants of the USA government through Grants.gov, and foundations. The goal for IOPDL project is to launch IOPDL website in 2018. The grant will be contributed to accomplish the following tasks:

  • Establishing IOPDL Organization – Assembling Leaders of Well-Designed Digital Libraries (WDDLs) forming committees by leaders of WDDLs.
  • Establishing Cutting-edge Technology with Common Terminology (CT)
    • to improve Interoperability;
    • to connect and improve interoperability between WDDLs and IOPDL;
    • to develop a hub model to establish an international network between WDDLs and IOPDL, and;
    • to pull their updated metadata regularly, preserving accurate data.
  • Developing a Single Portal and Interface Connecting WDDLs based on a planned prototype, after designing a CT union catalog and Linked Data from WDDLs records.
  • Launching IOPDL website.
  • Expanding Scope and Types Involving More WDDLs, and Evaluating More Digital Libraries All Over the World in many subject areas by :
    • developing evaluation tools and methods;
    • evaluating national digital libraries;
    • encouraging collaboration of the selected WDDLs, states, and countries, and;
